Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, famous as the head shrine of the Inari-san,
is a very popular spot among young tourists because of its vermilion Senbon-torii gate, which looks good on Instagram.
The area is also a must-see for history buffs as it is dotted with places associated with famous patriots of the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate,
including Teradaya and Ryoma Sakamoto.
This World Heritage Site is featured on the 10-yen coin and 10,000-yen notes. The golden phoenix shines on the roof of the Phoenix Hall, which has been renovated to its original form when it was built.
There are about 10,000 colorful torii in the precincts of the shrine, including the main torii and other gates. Experience the mysterious atmosphere of the vermilion tunnel leading to the top of the mountain.
